Windows Vista installation and troubleshooting

When installing Clarity version 2.5 on a PC with Windows Vista, where Clarity older than version was previously installed, follow these steps:

  1. Remove your HW key (Rockey or Sentinel).
  2. In case of Rockey key, manually delete files rockey4.sys and rockey4usb.sys from the SYSTEM32DRIVERS subdirectory of your main Windows directory.
  3. Restart your computer.
  4. Uninstall the driver using the InstDrv.exe (in case of Rockey) program found in the HW_DRIVERSROCKEY subdirectory or Sentinel Protection Installer 7.3.2.exe (in case of Sentinel) program found in the HW_DRIVERSSENTINEL subdirectory on your Clarity installation media.
  5. Restart your computer.
  6. Install the drivers by the same program (InstDrv.exe or Sentinel Protection Installer 7.3.2.exe, respectively).
  7. Insert the HW key.

If you won’t follow these instructions, the crash of the system may happen. This is caused by persisting versions of Vista-incompatible Sentinel or Rockey drivers. To remedy possible problems, re-install the drivers according to the instructions given above.
Also, crash of Windows Vista may occur when the Rockey HW key is removed after an older version of Clarity was replaced by version 2.5. Again, in order to repair the trouble caused, do not insert the Rockey HW key back to the system and re-install the drivers as shown above.
