Problems with modules using .NET

Some control modules require Microsoft .NET (framework distributed by Microsoft) which may not be installed on the computer by default. You will be notified by the Clarity installer which version of .NET is missing on your PC. There are two ways to obtain different versions of .NET:

  • Install required version of .NET supplied on the installation media, folder dotNet
  • Download version of .NET from the internet, using the links below, and then install it

Agilent ICF modules require both .NET 3.5 SP1 and .NET 4.0 or higher

On Windows XP, ICF is not supported.

On Windows 7, download the respective versions using the links below:

Click here to download .NET 3.5 SP1

Click here to download .NET 4.6.2

On Windows 8.1 and 10, follow these steps:

  • Press the Windows Start button, search for "Turn Windows features on or off" and run it.
  • In the displayed Windows Features dialog, check the .NET Framework 3.5 (includes .NET 2.0 and 3.0)
  • Click OK and the selected option will be installed and enabled.

Please note installation of .NET 3.5 is not always smooth in Windows 10, consult it with your administrator to find the best way how to install it.

Common way how to install .NET in Windows 10:

  • Programs & Features / Turn Windows features on and off (check the .NET Framework 3.5 option)

Installing .NET using command line - Run as administrator (enter a valid path to your installation media for the "Source:" parameter):

  • DISM  /Online  /Enable-Feature  /FeatureName:NetFx3  /All  /LimitAccess  /Source:X:\_MSDN\Windows 10\Win10ProDVD\sources\sxs\
  • The "/LimitAccess" parameter should prevent from performing Windows Update

Installing .NET using Poweshell  - Run as administrator:

  • Add-WindowsCapability –Online -Name NetFx3 –Source s:\_MSDN\Windows 10\Win10ProDVD\sources\sxs
  • Please note the behavior of this command is different on just-installed - not updated Windows 10 and on Windows in Domain and using WSUS - in this case even if .NET 3.5 is approved and Clarity installation of ICF is not running, please approve again .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 (SP1) and Family Update package. Please note there may occurs some unknown problems, it may helps to adjust the value of registry entry:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate\AU\UseWUServer
to value = 0. Then restart the OS.

  • Markes International BenchTOF
  • YL6900

On Windows XP, download the latest supported version of .NET 4.0.3:
